As tea blenders (and tea nerds!), we focus on flavour, quality, and sustainability. Our teas are sourced from trusted growers, blended with care, and designed to be brews you genuinely look forward to drinking each day.
We aim to bring you teas and blends that allow you time in your day to relax, focus or energise, depending on your needs. Tea is more than just a tea bag of dust - loose leaf tea is where it's at and we want to make our high-quality teas both accessible and affordable.
Yes – we use whole leaf tea wherever possible, as it gives a fuller, more balanced flavour. You won’t find any dusty, broken bits here – just proper tea that brews beautifully. You may get a little bit of 'dust' at the bottom of your bag that will naturally come off the whole leafs, but this is normal. The issue with commodity tea bags, is that they are only this low-quality dust!
So rest assured, when you drink Free The Tea, you're "Brewing Better"!
Loose leaf tea usually contains larger leaves (sometimes, however, the tea type lends itself to being smaller), which means better flavour and a slower, more satisfying brew.
Tea bags can be more convenient, but they often use smaller leaf particles. That's why we don't offer dust/fanning (the lower quality leaf and twig particles in cheaper tea bags).
We offer the best of both worlds – Loose-leaf teas for those who like it free, but also the convenience of our same high-quality teas, in our plastic-free teabags.
Many of our teas are organically grown, and quite a few are ethically certified such as FairTrade. As a small business, we try to source from farms and suppliers we trust. We believe good tea should also do good – for people and for the planet. It is our commitment to increase our efforts as we grow and have more power to help make the tea world a more ethical industry.
Some of our teas require slightly different brewing time or water temperature, so we recommend checking the tea packaging or product page on our site.
As a general rule of thumb, we recommend:
Black Teas - 2-3 minutes steeping (98 degrees celsius water temp) Green Teas - 2-3 minutes steeping (70-80 degrees celsius water temp)
Herbal Teas - 3-5 minutes steeping (98 degrees celsius water temp)
We include brewing tips with each of our teas, so you always get the best out of them. If you ever have any issues, simply contact us and we'll aim to get back to you asap. We always love a tea related question!
Absolutely. Many of our loose-leaf teas are great for a second (or even third) brew. You’ll notice the flavour evolves slightly with each steep, which is all part of the joy. If you plan to rested, we would reccomend using a little more leaf and shortenning your infusion time. With each extra infusion, just add on 30 seconds.
i.e. for our Sencha Green tea:
Leaf amount - 3.5g
Water amount - 200ml
1st steep - 1 minute 30 seconds.
2nd steep - 2 minutes.
3rd steep - 2 minutes 30 seconds.

We do indeed – we have a growing range of naturally caffeine-free and herbal blends. Whether you’re after something calming before bed or a caffeine-free cuppa during the day, we’ve got you covered. Some of our favourites are:
- Whole Peppermint (A step up from our regular Cut Peppermint)
- Chamomile (Notes of sweet apple and pineapple, delicious!)
- Rooibos (A classic caffeine-free tea with notes of vanilla.)
Our teas are best enjoyed within 12 to 24 months of purchase. Keep them sealed and stored in a cool, dry place to maintain maximum flavour and freshness.
Tea is very prone to taking on flavours and aromas of other foodstuffs if not stored properly. We recommend not leaving your tea unsealed, and definitely not in the same cupboard as your curry powder!
You choose the tea and how often you’d like it delivered – we handle the rest. Never be without your favourite teas, and the best part? You save time and money!!!
Subscriptions are flexible, and you can pause, skip or cancel at any time. It’s an easy way to stay stocked and we often allow our subscribers to try our new blends first (Winner!!)
